Hudson Valley LASIK CostsThe LASIK procedure is one that is well-known for providing dramatic improvement in vision after just one, quick laser procedure. However, what is not known by many is the average cost of LASIK surgery. In fact, at our Hudson Valley laser vision center, we find that LASIK cost is the most noted reason our patients have hesitated to undergo or delayed laser vision correction surgery. Once our patients learn of the actual costs of LASIK, as well as the easily available financing options, most are pleasantly surprised. In actuality, a LASIK procedure can save money for most patients, as compared to the long-term costs of eye glasses or contact lenses.

So What Does LASIK Cost?

It is difficult to give an exact price for LASIK because the procedure can be altered to meet so many specific needs. For our patients in Hudson Valley, LASIK can be performed traditionally, or iLASIK is available for patients who wish to undergo a bladeless procedure. These procedures will vary in cost. Other factors that can affect the cost of LASIK include the degree of correction required.

When receiving a LASIK quote, it is also important to note that prices are given per eye. For example, the average cost of traditional LASIK surgery is around $1,600 per eye, meaning it would cost around $3,200 to have both eyes corrected. The average cost of iLASIK, or bladeless LASIK, is $2,100 per eye or $4,200 for both eyes. These prices typically include the consultation and exam fee, the fee for the procedure, and any follow-up appointments. Any necessary adjustments may or may not be included. A consultation with Dr. Richard Gordon is the best way to get an accurate estimate for LASIK surgery at our Hudson Valley practice.

Payment Options

There are many payment options to consider when paying cash for LASIK is not an option. Widely used forms of LASIK financing include,

  • FSA: Growing in popularity as a payment options, an FSA is an employee sponsored flexible spending account. An FSA account allows individuals to set aside a portion of income before taxes in order to save for medical expenses, such as LASIK.
  • Financing companies: There are several financing companies out there providing loans for LASIK procedures. These personal loans have many payment plans to meet any budget. Short-term loans can be arranged to have the procedure paid off within several months or terms can be made that extend the price of the loan over several years. It is important to make sure the monthly payment fits your budget and to understand any extra fees that may be incurred.
  • Credit card: Credit cards are another option for LASIK payment. Our practice accepts major credit cards. However, be aware that the final cost of LASIK will be more once the credit card’s interest rates are factored in.
